Kimble Launches First Augmented Intelligence-Enabled Professional Services Automation Software

UPDATEDDec 09, 2022

San Diego, CA – May 1, 2017 – Kimble, a global leader in professional services automation (PSA), today announced the launch of its latest release, Kimble 1.25.  This utilizes augmented intelligence to guide best practice and streamline project delivery in consulting organizations. The intelligent PSA, Kimble 1.25, is the first software solution for professional service organizations to feature embedded augmented intelligence into the platform, transforming the professional services industry. The official release will take place during the Technology Services World Conference in San Diego this week. In addition, Kimble will demo these new capabilities in a webinar on May 11, 2017 @ 11:00 EDT.

Kimble 1.25 identifies patterns in data and feeds these into a range of “intelligent insights”, which illuminate the path ahead, suggesting to users what needs to be done next. For example, Kimble 1.25 will automatically calculate the average margin on past projects for a specific client and highlight that when a new proposal is being created.

“We are delighted to bring the Kimble Intelligent PSA to market and help our customers drive transformational change in their organization. Our dedicated team of software developers has been working hard to help our customers utilize the power of augmented intelligence,” said Sean Hoban, CEO of Kimble Applications. “As a business, Kimble has hundreds of years of experience in running consulting organizations. That expertise has helped drive what machine intelligence and human behavior is appropriate for people to adopt in consulting organizations. For the last seven years, we have been providing professional services automation to consulting organizations, and we have seen many of our customers grow and scale faster than the industry average.”

Kimble’s augmented intelligence feature utilizes an organization’s data patterns to predict the next best action within a flexible best practice framework. It provides process hints, based on what was effective in the past, and what are the attributes of an ideal project. With more than 200 customers live across the globe, ranging from companies of 50 to more than 5,000, more than 30,000 people turn to the Kimble PSA software to do their work every day.

“Kimble’s intelligent insights help us to expand and to drive increased business performance without the need to take on many more administrative or supervisory staff,” said Howard Roberts, professional services director at Canon.

Many rapidly growing consulting organizations rely on PSA to control and support the business as it grows. Through the integration of augmented intelligence, new staff can be coached to perform at the level of more experienced colleagues, rather than be tasked with administrative work, which allows rapidly-expanding businesses to maintain an autonomous and agile workplace culture.

“We are using technology to enhance intelligence, not replace it. We are not talking about bringing in robots to do a professional services project. Instead, we are looking to use machine learning to better guide the employees in the right direction,” said John Ragsdale, vice president of research technology and social at TSIA. “Analytics and dashboards can really go to waste if someone doesn’t use them. But with augmented intelligence, the PSA system can start prompting executives instead of forcing them to dig through dashboards, so they can spend their time identifying what needs their attention and impacting those projects.”

Kimble Intelligent PSA offers gamification elements that establish goals and provide rewards to help drive the desired behavior and give validation to users. Staff continuously check on the project progress against criteria such as milestone date and margin goals, so that they can notify a project manager or an executive if a project seems to be veering off the path.
